What does equitable and ethical engagement with Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) look like in practice and policy?
Two new reports supported by Wellcome Trust addressing this question within the context of the IPCC is now published - outlining key principles and practical guidance to support respectful and non-extractive engagement with IKS within global climate science and policy processes. With the IPCC's 7th Assessment Report on the horizon, "the time for rhetorical inclusion has passed; the moment for shared responsibility is now." For those involved in IPCC processes—and for anyone working at the science–policy interface—we encourage you to take a look and share with colleagues for direction and discussion.
And, congratulations to authors Pasang Yangjee Sherpa, Rosario Carmona, Graeme Reed, and Ritodhi Chakraborty!
